Tax Reform, JD Edwards and MPL

Tax Reform, JD Edwards and MPL

Much has been heard about the ongoing Tax Reform. There is no doubt that the Brazilian taxation model has become, over time, complex, dysfunctional, inefficient, unbalanced and unfair. At least since 1995, Brazil has experienced successive attempts at reform – all involving a point of consensus: the national tax system needs to be simplified.

We all know and live “firsthand” the difficulty of translating our laws into something systemic, that can be objectively configured and that guarantees the final result in the most assertive way possible: the issuance of the Invoice and the Tax Calculation.

In any implementation we make, there are always exceptions that must be handled, but the system is not always ready for that, and we end up adapting it to the reality of our customers through customizations.

Here comes another reform. Everything we've learned, we're going to need to relearn, rethink, see the simplest way to configure the new taxes in our ERP.

MPL is anticipating this whole discussion, we created an internal group to study the changes that must be made and think of the simplest alternatives to implement them, taking the best possible advantage of the standard solutions of JD Edwards or the solutions already developed for current taxes.

The tax reform must follow a schedule, where current taxes are progressively replaced by new taxes. See how and when this should happen in https://oglobo.globo.com/economia/noticia/2023/07/07/quando-entre-em-vigor-a-reforma-tributaria-veja-o-que-muda-e-os-principais-pontos-do-projeto.ghtml

Keep an eye! We will, as important decisions are taken, update our customers on what Oracle will be doing in this regard, the understanding that will be given to this matter and developments that will affect the day-to-day operations of each customer.
