The main challenges – corporate mobility

Main Challenges of Corporate Mobility

Mobility. This is a key word in the IT world in recent years and a big differentiator in the corporate world. Mobile computing has brought great agility to companies' businesses, enabling the execution of critical tasks “anytime & anywhere”.

However, its adoption must be surrounded by care, since many of its objectives may conflict with each other. Among the main challenges of a corporate mobility project we can highlight:

 Safety

This is the main challenge in adopting a mobile enterprise solution. The proliferation of the BYOD policy (Bring Your Own Device - use your own device) has brought many benefits to companies from cost reduction to productivity gains, but for IT departments it has meant a big headache to maintain the standards of security and compliance.

One of the main barriers to adopting BYOD (mobility) strategies is the perception that it brings risks to corporate security. Installing applications directly on personally owned devices can raise security and compliance concerns for a CIO who wants to keep corporate information secure.

One of the main factors to be evaluated when selecting an enterprise mobility solution is its management model – MAM (Mobile Application Management). The MAM model chosen should offer maximum flexibility, allowing IT to apply different policies for different applications, types of users and mobility scenarios. Most importantly, however, the MAM model ensures a high level of security for organizations and enables their users to get the most out of their chosen device.

Application Performance and Availability

Applications are a crucial part of any enterprise mobility strategy, but implementing an effective procedure to design them, serving multiple devices, can be quite complex.

In today's BYOD world, one of the main obstacles to mobility is multiple mobile app development platforms. Application development delays, performance issues on different devices and application unavailability are common problems in enterprise mobility projects.

The low performance of applications directly impacts the productivity of employees, customer service and the company's competitiveness, being one of the main factors for the abandonment of corporate mobility initiatives after they go into production.

The complexity of cross-platform development must be taken into account when planning the project, considering a longer development and testing time or a restriction on the types of supported devices.

Manage user expectations.

Corporate mobility is not just about devices, applications and access management. For such a project to be successful, it requires policies and strategies. In turn, their success boils down to managing expectations.

Unfortunately, managing expectations in corporate mobility projects is often neglected until a tsunami of dissatisfaction hits it. A good mobility policy requires the company to clearly state what it offers and what it expects from employees.

For example, the company must indicate the conditions for using its own device, which applications can be installed on it and cleaning rules. The storage of personal data on these devices is always at risk as the company has the right to protect its infrastructure from any suspected malpare attack, which could result in the loss of this information.

Corporate mobility is an irreversible path.

Preparing properly for its adoption will guarantee your company a competitive advantage of extreme relevance.
